Teacher’s 8 km Daily Walk Delivers Hope and Meals to 78 Students

Zane Pauls doesn’t have to do this and could easily use a car.

However, he chooses to personally deliver 78 lunches to the most disadvantaged students.

Every day, this primary school teacher walks eight kilometers to distribute free meals to these students.

He is committed to continuing this mission.

A former soldier and fitness enthusiast, Zane also serves as the deputy headteacher of his school.

He frequently participates in sports events for various charities.

“While delivering the meals, I also check on my students to make sure they’re doing well.

I want them to stay outside as little as possible due to the current situation,” Mr. Pauls explains.

Some students even ask for extra homework, he admits.

He carries 78 lunches in backpacks and bags, which adds up to a heavy load of eighteen kilograms.

Each free lunch includes sandwiches, a cookie, a packet of chips, and an apple.

According to Mr. Pauls, the discomfort of carrying this heavy load is nothing compared to the challenges faced by the parents of his students, who are forced to stay home in isolation.

After three weeks of this mission, Pauls has become a local legend.

Although he is modest about the title, he is now greeted on his route by several thank-you posters drawn by the children.

Even the local police admire this selfless teacher.
